Entry requirements
Applicants must describe their educational history and submit transcripts or academic records as part of the application.
All applicants must submit a valid GMAT or GRE score. Stanford GSB has no preference between GMAT and GRE and does not publish a minimum GMAT or GRE score requirement.
Applicants must self-report one test score from a single test sitting. Stanford does not superscore. Official scores must be sent through the score reporting centre.
The application also includes personal information, activities and awards, essays, recommendation letters, resume and other required application sections. Interviews are by invitation.
English requirements
All Stanford GSB courses are taught in English and class participation is essential, so applicants must demonstrate English proficiency.
Applicants must take an English proficiency test if their undergraduate programme was taught in whole or in part in a language other than English, unless they have since completed a graduate degree taught exclusively in English.
Accepted tests are TOEFL, IELTS Academic and PTE Academic.
Minimum TOEFL score: 100 for TOEFL iBT before 21 January 2026, or 5.0 for TOEFL from 21 January 2026 onwards.
Minimum IELTS Academic score: 7.0 overall band score.
Minimum PTE Academic score: 68 overall.
TOEFL, IELTS and PTE scores are valid for two years and must be valid on the deadline date of the application round.
