Overview

The MIT Sloan Master of Finance is a full-time graduate finance programme with 12-month and 18-month formats. It is designed for students seeking rigorous finance training with exposure to modern finance theory, quantitative methods, analytics, markets and practical finance applications.

For UCO Business users, this programme is most relevant to the Finance pathway, with connections to Financial Markets, Risk Management, Asset Management, Corporate Finance, Financial Management and FinTech. It may suit students seeking a quantitative and globally recognised finance degree in the United States.

Students should review MIT Sloan’s official MFin admissions and tuition pages before applying, including application deadline, transcripts, recommendations, coursework expectations, resume, optional test scores, video questions, English policy and programme format.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a four-year undergraduate degree or a three-year equivalent undergraduate degree from outside the United States by the time of matriculation.

Applicants must upload transcripts from all colleges and universities attended or currently attended. If transcripts are not in English, both the original and certified translation must be uploaded.

MIT Sloan asks applicants to list relevant coursework in Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Probability and Statistics. Applicants are also welcome to submit professional certifications or non-degree coursework. MIT Sloan prefers candidates with demonstrated proficiency in Python, although candidates may be admitted without Python and may need to demonstrate proficiency before matriculation.

The application also requires three letters of recommendation, a one-page resume, short-answer questions, video questions and the application fee. GMAT or GRE is optional for the MFin application, but applicants with a score are strongly encouraged to submit it.

English requirements

MIT Sloan does not require an English proficiency exam for the Master of Finance application and does not accept TOEFL or IELTS scores.

English-language ability is assessed during the interview process.
