Overview
LSE MSc Economics is a specialist postgraduate economics programme focused on advanced microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics and quantitative economic analysis.
For UCO Business users, this programme is most relevant to the Economics pathway, with links to Economics, Econometrics, Applied Economics, International Economics and Financial Economics.
The programme is suitable for students with strong economics and quantitative preparation who want advanced training for economist, policy, research, finance, consulting or PhD pathways.
Entry requirements
Applicants need a first-class honours degree in economics or equivalent, with concentration in economics and quantitative subjects.
Successful candidates typically have very good examination results in university-level two-semester courses in advanced calculus and linear algebra, econometrics and statistics, and intermediate macroeconomics and microeconomics.
If the first degree is not in economics, LSE advises applicants to consider the two-year MSc Economics programme. GRE is required for applicants without a UK undergraduate degree in economics.
English requirements
The English-language requirement for this programme is LSE Standard.
English-language evidence is required where the applicant does not meet LSE’s exemption rules.
Applicants may need to provide English proficiency evidence, although LSE states this does not need to be provided at the time of application.
