Summer 2027 Intern: Sr Data Science

Walmart Summer 2027 Intern: Sr Data Science is a PhD-level internship within Walmart Global Tech.

The role focuses on advanced data science, machine learning, business problem formulation, exploratory data analysis, model assessment, model deployment, data pipelines and data visualisation.

For UCO Business users, this job is most relevant to the Business Analytics pathway because it applies analytics, modelling and data-driven insight to large-scale retail and technology business problems.

Identify and help design machine-learning and advanced algorithmic solutions to business problems.

Translate business problems into analytical and algorithmic solutions.

Explore datasets with product and data experts and identify appropriate data sources.

Build data quality checks for data pipelines.

Use exploratory data analysis to understand data and engineer features.

Build, evaluate and improve analytical models.

Support model fit testing, statistical inference and solution measurement.

Write analytical models and data pipelines for production use.

Create visualisations for key datasets and model outcomes.

Must be currently enrolled in a PhD degree programme.

Expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028.

Zero to one year of relevant full-time experience, excluding internship and research-based roles.

Desired majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant majors.
