Principal Technical Program Manager, Special Projects

The Principal Technical Program Manager within Amazon Special Projects helps incubate and launch entirely new strategic businesses, including a new initiative within the energy sector. The position operates like a zero-to-one venture-building role inside a large organisation, combining new-business creation, product strategy, technical programme leadership, partnership development and commercial execution. The manager takes ideas from concept through live production, develops product roadmaps, coordinates engineering and business teams and builds external partnerships with utilities, technology manufacturers and other organisations. This makes the position directly relevant to innovation, venture creation and corporate entrepreneurship.

Lead end-to-end launches of new products, partnerships and strategic business initiatives.

Develop and manage product and programme roadmaps.

Translate emerging business concepts into executable engineering plans.

Coordinate the path from commercial agreement through live production.

Develop new operating models and strategic approaches in the energy sector.

Manage partnerships with utilities, OEMs and technology aggregators.

Balance commercial priorities with technical feasibility and execution risk.

Coordinate engineering, product, science, finance, legal and procurement teams.

Define programme success measures and monitor initiative performance.

Work directly with senior leadership and external C-level executives.

Support commercial negotiations and partnership economics.

Build scalable business and technical processes from the ground up.

At least 7 years of technical product or programme-management experience.

At least 10 years of experience working directly with engineering teams.

At least 5 years of software-development experience.

Experience managing programmes across cross-functional teams.

Experience building processes and coordinating release schedules.

Experience managing complex technology projects.

Experience owning programme strategy and end-to-end delivery.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent field.

Experience working in a new business unit or startup is preferred.

Experience negotiating and closing commercial agreements is preferred.

Experience developing and executing strategy from the ground up is preferred.

Experience designing roadmaps towards long-term business objectives is preferred.

Knowledge of cloud, IoT or smart-home technologies is advantageous.
